A 1206 shouldn't start hard. Does it run alright other wise? Could have some nozzels that are that are dirty and need cleaning. Your pump shouldn't lose it's prime unless you have a seal out on the pump. You would notice a seal out if it is an external seal, because the pump would be covered with fuel, unless it is the pump drive shaft seal. If that was the case, you should be getting fuel in the engine oil. It might be possible to have a delivery valve on the pump that is stuck. What did the dealer do to check the pump? The only real way to really check out a pumps condition, is to send it in to a diesel shop and have them check it on a stand, but that will cost you a good sum of cash. Any body else have some ideas?
