Motor on '41 Farmall H is locked up. It was loose 18 months ago when put in shed. Dont think water go to it. Does sitting idle with sweat build-up cause that? Have '39 H and it is loose.
Put it in shed same time. If the problem is rings rusted to cylinder walls how do I get loose and will I need to hone cylinder walls before running?

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions and I forgot about the archive. Is the Mavel Mystery Oil a national brand? I can't find it in any local hardware or auto stores.

Liquid Wrench is much better than Mar....oil named above. It's cheap and just about every place. Here's a list of what has worked best for me and others i know. From best to worst. Kryoil (expensive but excelent!) Blaster (i get mine at NAPA) Liquid Wrench These are the best, i no longer waste my time with a lesser products, as they just don't work like the above. Robert

Hi Mike, I've seen some rusty cylinders freed up that I would have bet were going to cause low power and oil burning. Amazingly that doesn't always happen. As the previous post pointed out, your bores probably aren't all that rusty. That being the case I would get it running, use it a little, and see what you've got. At the very least you're closer to a rebuild now than you were before this happened. After running it a while if it runs ok, has decent compression, and doesn't smoke, I would do nothing more than change the oil and be more careful next time. Good luck...Al English

Mike: Please search the archives on the left side of this screen. Many strings about unsticking the piston(rings). Yours might not be bad since it was inside and only 18 months. Pull the sparkplugs and pour in some rust desolver. PB Blaster or Kroil etc. Let soak for couple days and put it in higher gear and HAND-rock back and forth. do NOT pull with another tractor or use too much force or you will break something. Sometimes its a valve is stuck down and piston hits it. Use plenty of rust desolver. Ralph
