This Ford 555B leaks the rear axle fluid out of both of the rubber boots where the brake actuating rods enter the axle.

Is this a relatively easy fix and is there something else I need to be checking?

I've ordered new manuals for this machine but it will be at least a week before they get here. I'm just trying to pick up some advice from you experienced wrench burners! :) Any help will be appreciated folks. Thanks.

I have a ford 5000. The left side leaks where the brake rod goes into the axel. Is this the problem you had and how hard was it to fix:? Mine pours fluid when the brake is locked and has started doing it in neutral now.

I just did this job on a 545 at work. The boots just pry out from the outside.

Dale,

Thank you for your quick response. I was sure hoping this was the case but I was positive. You've certainly made my day more enjoyable! :)
