Starting to wonder if life would be alot better being a teat suckling @$$ hole working for someone else than wasting my time trying to keep everyone else happy. The banker wants everything ship shape and proffitable.Every G D salesman is pestering when we're busy, but have to be polite because sometimes we need them. It's the employees that tick me off the most! They only will do the easy jobs, with only the new tractors, and won't make an honest effort to fix anything. If it's in the least bit work orrinted, you have to do it yourself. If the tractor is more 10 years old, they aren't going to use it.If it's dirty, they aint toutching it.If they break it,come and fix it.Rough as he!!,no point in going on any more because there's an obvious answer, fire them and tell them to go to he!!.Only one problem, they are all the same,so as long as I want to make a living farming, gotta suck everyone's G D ar$ ,tell them it smells beautifull and smile.Meanwhile they make more money than I do,and it's my house and multi generational family farm that the bank won't hessitate for a second to auction off should I discontinue to find a way to make ends meet.By the way,I'm not actually blonde girl,I made up this handel so the ar$holes I am fed up with won't read this and quit

With the economy now, it's in the employers court. With so many people getting laid off and looking for work, you should be able to pick and choose who you want working for you. If your current employees want to quit, let them. If they're as bad as you say, why would you want to keep them? Your post seems contradictory. There are some really annoying sales people but for the most part, they're just trying to make a living too. Dave

Been on the job 35+ years. When I was younger, many years no time off. Now he expects that. Job to close,to old,to bad of economy to do something different now and he knows it. Employer has me...

Blonde, what you are ranting about is going on all over the country. My wife, a program director in charge of 40 employees, has been fired up about the same stuff lately. She cuts a lazy employee"s hours so a good employee can have more hours and the lazy employee calls her up after work to ream her, then the employee"s MOTHER calls my wife to give another tongue lashing. If the whiny employee would be a responsible worker, her hours wouldn"t be cut in the first place. This is only one example!!!! People just aren"t hungry enough today.Jim

I'm thinking that handle will attract all his help to read this message, not the effect he wanted! :)

My new tractors are from the mid 1970's. My wife is the hired help. She chases me out of the tractor when she isn't on her real job. She's a lot neater than me, so washes the windows, too.

Came walking back to me last fall, almost in tears. She figured whe wrecked a tire, maybe more. She couldn't even tell me what she did, she was so upset.

When we got back to the setup, she had caught the brake a little hard, and turned too short on the end, put the dual into the hitch & jack pretty hard. As the dual is kinda low pressure, it pushed in the tread quite a bit. I got it unjacknifed, only damage was the little tin piece og the jack cover was deformed a bit.

A girlfriend of her's also likes to drive tractor or shell corn out of the crib, says it real stress relief from the regular job. She doesn't want anything, just putter with the farm stuff.

Can't complain about my help. :) My biggest problem is when they both are there & only one tractor to do any tillage - I gotta stay scarce so an argument doesn't break out. :)

Sounds like you have allready let it go too far to correct with these people. Start over and be the BOSS this time instead of trying to be their "friends". That never works with todays young. And Mexicans hate the cold so forget them. Respect comes before friendship , start over!

I know,it's the same everywhere you go.The employee's get a charge out of life telling everyone else how stupid the boss is,if they were in charge everything would be so much better.Seems like once people have been together for a few years they get fed up with one another, same as in marriage often times lol.

Blonde, I know to well how tough it is! I retired from farming in 1995 and now I just play farm to suit myself. I don't know how long you've been farming but it hasn't been really fun since Nixon ( because he took the embargos off) hang in there and good luck Ron

Lot of good people looking fo rjobs right now. If employees arent worth a darn and complain. You hire replacements, have the departing unknowinly train them in, then tell the poor employee McD's is hiring, SEEYA!
