a question on the starter 'ground' ????

Read the 12 Volt conversion article on the YT homepage and I've got another question about it. All of the old stuff was + ground. So when you convert to a 12V system (like the article) using a modern 12V negative ground alternator, the whole system is then negative ground right? If that's the case, the original 6V starter must be a positive ground starter. Would this not mess up the starter, that is to operate it in a negative ground system?

I have a 1969 or 1970 oliver. Gas powered I would like to know is the battery positive or negitive ground going to the voltage regulator it is a 12 volt system.

the starter will not care whether the ground is - or + and it will turn the proper direction
