We got hit by a pretty nasty storm last night, with heavy snow and strong winds. This morning when I left for work our dead end street was still unplowed. My van made a pretty good effort to get through, but didn't make it. My very kind neighbor, who happened to have the day off, had spent the last two hours pulling vehicles up and down our street. He offered to pull my van. I tied his rope to the front of my van and he tied it to the rear of his truck. With repeated attempts he managed to get my van out, however, each time he removed the rope from the back of his truck he had to cut it off. Thus the rope had become considerably shorter in the two plus hours he'd been towing cars.

He watched me tie a bow to the front of my van and simply untie it when desired. (I didn't want to insult him by suggesting/teaching him how to tie a bow.) I can't imagine going through life without such basic skills.

Who ties these guys shoes in the morning?
