I am just starting to restore my first tractor
and under the green paint I've found red paint
is there a reason for this or did someone change the color.

Oliver 88's (early ones) will be Oliver green and red. The early 88's (with a sloped radiator, not straight up and down like rest of the 88's and the 66's 77's and such) were built before the introduction of the new "Fleet line" styling.

If I can recall properly... The whole tractor should be green - except for the wheels (front and back)... But, someone more knowledgable may be able to provide more info.

Tim

Depending on the year, the colors should be red green and yellow. On the non-super and later super models, the whole tractor is green, the wheels are red, the grille is yellow, and the srtip down the middle of the grille is red with yellow letters. The early supers were all green, all the red that was on the non supers was changed to green. The rest remained the same.
