My son knew he needed to stop smoking. He'd just seen his father die at 38 from lung cancer. That was the spark that made him realize that smoking could literally kill him. Unfortunately, every time he tried to stop, he would yield to temptation within a few days. I looked at using a nicotine patch and nicotine gum, but didn't want him to use either. For me, it seemed silly to take the same substance that causes the addiction - nicotine.
I searched for a natural and safe method to quit smoking:>Link
How it works?

Nothing stronger than the mind. If you want to quit then quit - if you think you want to quit use a crutch. You didn't need a crutch when you started did you?

I smoked my last 6 weeks ago after over 25 yrs of smoking. I used (am using) a prescription product called Chantix that blocks nicotine from attaching to receptors in the brain (which would otherwise produce dopamine’s). You take this for a week before stopping smoking and toward the end of that week I noticed the 'thrill was gone' (not totally, but much less). I started noticing the bad taste and smoked much less before stopping all together. There's more to the treatment. They call once a day to check on progress, and I check in to their web site daily (now weekly) for reinforcement. I probably wouldn't have stayed away this long without all this support. I intend to never smoke again. I've seen the impact smoking has on old timers and it isn’t pretty.

I started smoking at 15 years old.At 55 I was smoking three large packs a day and was never sick a day. I retired and within a month had a heart attack. While a smoker i tried everything to quit from gum to the patch to a machine. At time I did all three while still smoking. While at the emergency room the night of my heart attack the heart doctor asked me how much do you smoke. I replied three packs a day and he said "The question is not why are you here the question is what took you so long to get here?:"

Same spammer as a couple of days ago.

Fact of the matter is, you can't help anyone else quit smoking any more than you can get them to quit drinking or shooting heroin. They have to decide to do it for themselves.

So if his Daddy was 38, how old was he? Your "ad" may be more beleiveable if you had said 48.

If "Dad" had the kid at 18, "Son" would be 20 now.

No, it's true!

Junior started dipping snuff when he was five, and went on to smoking cigarettes when he was seven. Now it's marijuana and crack cocaine.

Now Ma doesn't mind an occasional blunt or crack pipe herself, but she just can't tolerate those filthy cigarette butts Junior leaves lying around after he's done playing with his Erector set!

If you're in KY most of what you've said could be true. When did the ban smoking start, 20 years ago? In KY, I think they saw their first no smoking sign a couple of years ago.
