I have a 1996 Belarus AS250. 2 cyl diesel air cooled, 12v system. the tractor came (new) with 2 6 volt batteries chained together to make 12 volts. Can I replace the 2 6v batteries with 1 12v battery?

Thanks

You may need to have at least 1400 to 1600 or better cold cranking amps. I personally would put two 12v batteries in and hook them up as Emery Courvelle describe.

i would assume this cld be done by using a "splitter box" between the 2 batteries same as on the larger hp units..starts on 24 + revert to 12 once running

Danny, I bought a used Belarus as250 about 5 yrs ago and it came with one 12 volt battery. Not enough battery to turn it over. I had to use the compression release to start it. This last year, i put another 12 volt battery in parallel with the first one and it starts real good in summer but still needs the compression release in winter. Hope this helps and send me an e-mail if i can help...Emery
