Exhaust / Muffler question

I bought a flowtech muffler from summit racing for my Farmall M, reason being, they're very close to IH red and not suppposed to peel or rust (within reasonable amount of time) from exhaust temperature. Issue is, I lack about 1/16 of an inch being able to slip it on my manifold pipe. Will my local muffler shop be able to stretch this somehow? I don't want to try it myself by driving it down with a wooden block on a spare piece of pipe for fear of damaging the muffler.

Aloha, If your manifold pipe (not tubing) is a straight piece, maybe you could remove it and have it turned down on a lathe to fit the muffler.

most benders used by the big mufflr shops have attachments that both expand exhaust tubing as well as flare it for use with exhaust donuts.
KD also makes version for use with an impact or ratchet- i think they are about $25...

Just a thought, but if they stretch the pipe won't that crack whatever finish they put on it?

the muffler shop has a stretcher, they make one end of same size pipe to fit over the other. have had it done many times to get mufflers to fit, only wish my local shop could ruduce size a bit or make one smaller when i need it.

Yes, if the owner is there. The kid working there will not be able to do anything that is not in the book. Don't ask me how I know.

Yeah.. I know all about the owner deal... the larger shops about 30 miles away are likely like that, I have two in town that 99% of the time, the owners are there, because they both only have one other employee!
