1996 Dakota, 5.2 V8 Magnum, auto, 4x4.

The computer is giving a code for the Oxygen sensor. However, I don't know if it's because of the upstream one or the downstream one. Is there a way to test them so I know which one is causing the problem?

Thanks,
Anthony

Just because you got a code for an O2 sensor don"t assume that it"s the O2 sensor that is bad. There are many other problems that will show up as an O2 sensor code. If you"re getting code numbers of 21 and 55, your truck is pre OBD II and doesn"t have near the amount of self diagnostic capabilities a newer vehicle has. Get a shop manual and do some testing before you through $150 or so at two new O2 sensors.

The computer is giving code 21. I cycled the key, it gave 21, 21, 21, 55. Seemed kinda odd to me; never had one give the same number three times like that.

Thanks,
Anthony

My money is on the front one. It operates in more heat than the rear sensor
