I just overhauled my 4020, main bearings pistons rods etc. I did not pull the crank or cam. while putting the oil pump back in the rod from the diesel pump fell out so I had to pull the diesel pump. Now I cannot get the tractor timed, according to the way the servce manual says. Has any one else had this problems or any ideas.

Thanks

Do you have the oil pump installed so the oil pump gear's IP drive slot is as shown in the book?

Also you are aware the IP driveshaft can be installed 2 ways into the IP, with one being 180º "off", right?

can the timing marks get off if the IP rod comes out? I pulled both the the oil pump and the IP and matched them up outside the tractor, there is no way currently that i Can see that if they line up like the book says, that I can mount it on the tractor that way, I am talking about a 4020 John Deere if any one else wants to respond
