Hello,

Looking to find how to disengage hydro transmission to be able to pull onto trailer without having the rear wheels locked up. This has the two hand levers, one to the left and one to the right of the steering wheel. Right seems to have three positions (guessing forward, neutral, and backwards). Left lever has two positions ( engaged, not engaged (?) ). Left pedal linkage connected to left lever (clutch of some kind ?). Right two pedals are brakes. Is there a disengage lever or similiar somewhere so it can role freely or is there no options like this posible on this model ?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom on this !
Dave

Right lever is low range rear, neutral center and high range forward. Left lever is foward ahead, neutral center and reverse back. The further you move it in either direction the faster you move. The foot pedal dumps the pressure moves the left lever to neutral and brings it to a stop.

Right lever. Put it in the middle position.

GO SLOW!! My IH mechanic says that even in neutral, the hydro can build pressure and damage the unit. I moved mine about eight feet this spring (in neutral) and now I have an intermittent problem with the hydro I never had before. It still works, but "jumps" every now and then. It did not do that before-haven't had time to see if there is a connection or not- may be something else completely.

Don't ya think maybe that is a coincidence?

Yank the cushion valve and check the keeper/snap ring. Usual cause of that “jump” business.

What the heck was I thinkin' last night? Geeze! :>(

Meant to say "shuttle" valve.

Anyway, the valve is accessed in behind this plug. There is a snap ring on the far end of the valve that has a nasty habit of breaking. When it does, the valve can't find "home/center" and this makes the tractor do that "jump" thing when the left lever is moved away from neutral.

Probably the easiest repair on this Hydro other than adjusting the dump valve.

Thanks, Allan, I will check it out. Right now, too busy to stop-planter tractor. Fortunately, only happens occasionally.

When that keeper breaks, the shuttle valve will not hydraulically return back to center when the left lever is pulled into neutral. It's just floating in it's bore willy-nilly.

So, the next time the controls are used (pedal/lever), the tractor wants to go right back to the same operating mode it was in the last time it was engaged.

Kinda like when the carb linkage falls off a carb. There is no "return" and ya get what ya had. :>)

Hope that makes sense. :>(
