Electric PTO

Couple years back I seen an arrangement on a farm sale. Looked like some guy took the guts of a stirator and threw an old 540RPM PTO shaft on there, mounted it all on a little trailer and added a long heavy electric cord. Thing looked like it should do alright for running an auger. Anybody else ever heard of such a gadget? If I get all my other projects done this summer I think I might want to build one of these.

I think Farm Show Magazine has had a couple of articles about "electric PTO's".

That motor turns very slowly. I use them on a pork barbaque spit as the speed is about right and it has a lot of strength. I suppose you could use sprockets and chain to speed the rpm up
