I bought a valve kit from yt (tisco ), my headshop asked where are the guide seals, I called yt and they informed me that they leave em out because they wipe too much oil causing scoring and seizing of the valve stem. will leaving them out cause excessive smoke ? also there were no new retainers in the kit, are you supposed to use the old ones ?

Use the old retainers.

Jury is dead-locked on the seals. I guess if this isn't a working tractor, I'd put 'em in.

If you're going to have it working hard and wound up all the time, I'd probably leave 'em off. Putzin' around at a low engine rpm is gonna give you some "puff" when ya crack the throttle tho.
