Lets start here. My daughter who lives 150 miles from me has been out of work for almost a year. But she got a new job and it pays pretty good. Yet her car was a junker and 2 months ago it locked up with a rod out. So there she set way away trying to hitch rides to work she just got. So dad being dad gave her a nice Dodge 4x4 ram truck and she took over the payments on. For which she is paying on time and happy now. So this left dad with his car a nice Ford Excort to which I own some money on to.
Well today I was having a few words with the other half about her spending. That we were in the hole all the time and something had to stop!
So we had to go to town about 6 miles from here and talk to the bank. On the way it is rainging like it has been for a week. "SICK OF RAIN" wipers going and just seem like a dirty rain with all the gray outside around. When topping this hill with nice side walls of dirt. Here pops a Deer infront of out car. #$&3@ shesssss Boom and my Ford is to bad to drive anywhere. So out of the car I go and look at this dumb a$$ deer dead as a door nail! But not dead enough for me now... I cuss the deer while looking at hook smashed and front end. Water leaking out in steam now. I walk around the car open trunk and get out flares I always carry cause the flashers on back are working but a few dumb A$$ in dump trucks think it's funny to get real close to car that is now off on side of the street. Call Highway Patrol who is some ways away and set there and wait. Oh did call insurrance company and got that going and called for a two truck.
Luckly I know the two truck company and they agree to take a post dated check from me cause the money just is not there for another week!
Insurrance company says I have car rental at $25.00 a day only. ..... ...Oh well better then nothing I guess. But company they want me to use is about 45 miles one way to get to and the only one around the area to! So lets see.. hummm that is 90 mile round trip for someone if I can get them to take me. Don't really know anyone around here like that. So that is up in the air.
Well the Officer was just super in handling the wreck and gave me report numbers etc etc and gave my wife a ride home with her little Yorkie dog. While I rode with tow driver. Took my car to my home instood of a tow lot who will charge for storage on it anyway.
Insurrance said be Monday or Tuesday for adjuster gets out to see me.
The car rental will now deliever a car to me tomorrow sometime. Oh well" Life goes on. As for that deer. I my wife said I walked around the car out in the rain 6 times stopping each time to cuss out that deer. lol have to laugh now.. shesssss sssss Time I pay off loan on car looks like I will be buying another use truck. Sure can't afford the price of a new one now days.

Its 1974 and I had a brand new Plymouth, hit a deer, ker bang. Put deer in trunk headed home. Dressed out deer and put it in the freezer (Sept). NY DEC cop came by while I was working on the farm and said I heard you hit a deer. Yup, its in the freezer, want to see it. Took him inside and showed him all the white packages. He said you can't do that!! Do what I said. He said put deer meat in the freezer. I said there it is, I sure can; he said you can't.

I said well there it is. I told me I can't, it is done, you want it? He said "you trying to bribe me?" Me, I don't particularly care for venison, but I am going to eat the 3rd rat with antlers that walked in front of my 9 week old car.

We left the house and he went to nosin around my car. He came back to me and said your story checked out, I found some brown hair under the chrome strip at the front.

I said what about the grass in the suspension as I chased the deer across two fields!! Now get off the farm you wore out your welcome.

Deer, rats with antlers. Got no use for 'em.

One good meal out of that deer, along with a good quality cold one, is good relief, rain or no rain, at least the tenderloins and the back straps, hind quarters, good to keep a sharp knife and some big ziplocks in small carry case, bag or something, sometimes it pays, at least you get something from the incident. You'll get the vehicles sorted out....somehow these things always get done.

"That which does not kill you makes you stronger"

It will all work out for you shortly, just as it is now working out for your daughter....but damn it can be hard waiting for it all to fall into place, huh?

Heck, atleast when my dad hit a deer with his tacoma, we atleast got the meat!!

He was on his way home from watching one of my high school wrestling meets and 2 deer jumped in front of him. My brother was already out there with his truck by the time I got home and out there with my truck too. Went to the shop my brother was working at at the time, and he took the deer and cut it up. Most expensive way to get a deer, yet so many people seem to still get 'em that way...

All I can say is you know my phone number and you know you could call me if you needed help. Plus I would have taken that deer home and put it in my freezer

Yeah man, at my age i'm only going to see a whole BUNCH of that stuff, but you know, one day at a time, right? The way I thought how to get through life is to do everything you possibly can in one day, and do it right. Likewise, after having a hot temper for the past years, i'm now trying to play it cool and just kinda shrug things off.

...It's hard to shrug things off though, very hard.

Sometimes, they'll eat away at you for months, even years.

That's where personal prayer comes in handy, and there's nothin' like the power of faith.

My 2 cents, good luck 'n gidderdunn!

AMEN, my brother! All for the greater good- just keep advancing the ball. It's all you can do in this ol' life- move forward, and try to help others move to.

Yes, I have seen some good times, as well as some not-so-good.. But as long as we have health, a roof and some vittles, we are luckier than most... In a year or 2, those bad weeks/months are not near as bad as they seem at the time...

Yep, been there, done that. Been doing good for awhile now, but always ready for the other shoe to drop. I do try to keep up some faith in the Man Upstairs, I know he's carried me once or twice. ;^)
Hang in there!
