6.0 liter engine. I can see the black on the block where the leak is. The heat sheild & manifold have small bolts & have rusted so bad sockets or wrenches don't fit. Is there some kind of special socket or extractor that will grab the bolt head & turn the bolt. Expect to heat the bolt red hot with torch. After 10 hours constant driving they still wouldn't budge. Is there some type of high temp epoxy I can apply like chaulking compound?

Put a brazing tip on your acetylene torch and heat the bolt head cherry red. Then grab it with a pair of Vise Grips. The bolt should come out like it's only finger tight.

You're gonna have to pull the manifold.

Irwin tools make a socket set for use on damaged and rounded heads.Try that first.

If they don't go,cut the bolts off(grinder, torch etc),remove manifold and use the candle wax trick:

Being the 6.0 has aluminum heads, heat the stud with oxy/acetylene torch 'til red hot, then take a candle and melt it by holding at base of stud 'til it stops smoking and melting. When cooling, the wax will pull into threads of stud.Put vise grip on stud and turn it out.Never failed me yet.

Did it on a '01 Silverado 6.0 and a 98 Expedition 5.8 both with aluminum heads.Takes a little practice.

6.0L in mine was quite until after an extended uphill pull with a trailer in tow. On cold startup it's pft's a bit until warmed up.

same thing with mine. It will run quiet for a while on the Interstate, then hit a bump & sound off. Let up on the gas awhile & sometimes that quiets it down. Or it's running loud & hit a bump & that quiets it down. Hit another bump, its loud again. Something seems to be moving around causing it to open & shut. That's why I wondered if some chaulking wouldnt seal it, at least for awhile.

What year is the pickup?

I've heard rumors of trouble with the back manifold bolts on the driver side of the 6.0 motor.
