Any one know how hard it would be to make a 1968 john deere 3020 side console that is single remote into a dual remote?

So the side mower is mechanical driven and needs hydraulics to raise and lower it? And you want a 2nd set of hydraulic remotes for an adjustable top link? As previously stated. It's pretty simple to just bolt on extra SCV valves onto the side of the existing valve on a 1969 and later.

The 1968 was a miscalculation on the middle finger. It is a 1969 console. I have a #10 side mount sickle bar mower that i want to mount to it and not have to remove it all the time. It is around 600lbs. and i aint no spring chicken no more. I don't like to have all that weight just hanging on the side of the tractor when not in use so i want to be able to drop it. If i disconnect the hoses to run something else i can't adjust it if it slowly drops or is in the way with a tree limb or something else with the bush hog on the back. Have a lot of creek's and banks to keep trimmed so i am always changing from on to the other. I don't have the 3020 yet. I am looking at a nice one and it only has the one remote and that is the only thing stopping me from getting it. Its hard to find a nice tractor with console on it for less than both your arms. I guess i better let you know i have a hydraulic top link to the brush hog and that is why i need the extra remote. Since i used the hydraulic top link i will never go with out one again. (Is it even possible to disconnect the hoses from the hydraulics on the 3020 with an implement in the up possition?) I know on my old 2010 you couldn't even unhook unless the load was of the tractor. Thanks guys for the response.

Is steady flow for a planter motor or loader required? Or oil for a 2nd remote ram on a cultivator or something?

If it is a side console, in addition to my post below I would take the valve box to a JD dealer and have him check or rebuild the internals. If from a used tractor as mine was, one side of my valve leaks a little and you have to keep bumping it down or up depending on how the hoses are hooked up.

A 1968 3020 wouldn't be side console, it would have the SCVs on the left side of the dash. Its harder to add remotes because the valves are up in the engine compartment and the connections are out back. The side console 3020 began in 1969 and the valve and connection block are together on the back of the final drive case. Virtually the same parts were used for several generations of JD tractors. Simpler to add bacause the pieces are together and the linkage is simple in the side console.

As an alternative, one could tap the elbow just in front of the brake pedals. It supplies pressure to the rock shaft valve. Convert the elbow to a T. Run thougoh a flow restrictor valve to a closed center valve hung on a shelf on the fender. I'd reverse the handles and put the valve under the shelf. Return to the transmission oil filter cover (drill and tap or buy one made for a 2640). Run cylinder hoses to suitable fittings hung out back. That's how loaders with their own valves are plumbed. You need the flow restrictor valve to keep for punching the ends out of cylinders when you open that new valve full.

I've two sets of outlets with separate flow restrictor valves on my 1968 (not side console) 4020, one for loader, one for the back I occasionally mount on the three point.

Not hard at all. Need the linkages and the valve block with internals. Remove the plate and put block on with o-rings, etc. Should be some technical info at dealer but does not take much.

I've did it to my 3020 about 15 years ago.
