What should I expect to pay for a 3 angle valve grind job for a 4 cyl OHV head off a Ford 134 CI EAE engine?

There's no way of knowing until they get your head torn down and see what all is wrong with it.

The head on my Hydro 70 cost just this side of $700 (gaskets included). :>(

Usually ,,,Hot tank head, 3 angle grind, assemble 4 cyl ball park $100 -150 , parts not included , Depends on what kinda shape it's in , guides etc . I Like to tear down and hot tank first them get better idea what I need to do to it before I quote firm price .

What are you calling a "three angle" valve job? Any half-way decent valve job requires a narrowing of the seat by using different angles about and/or below the seat - which usually comes to a total of three. But, the seat is only one - 30 degrees, 45 degrees, or whatever your machine calls for. That's a one-angle seat - not three.

A simple valve refacing, and simple seat grinding (and narrowing) can be done in an hour or two. So, depends on what someone wants to charge you for their time. I often do it for friends for free (but they owe me a favor). Otherwise -around $75.

On the other hand - if you need new valves, new guides, stem seals, and maybe - need to have new hardened steel inserts put into the head - you can spend a lot of money - some places can charge in excess of $500 for one four-cylinder head.

3-angle? I don't know, read that term somewhere. Just your basic valve grind I guess. Hell, I'm no machinist, just a shade tree mechanic. Thanks

$100 to $1000 depending on what you find in/on the head. Odds are the rest of the engine is worn as well.

No doubt about the bottom end, got new overhaul kit and plan on working the crank. I have replaced the guides and plan on installing new valves and springs. Just looking to have the valve seats ground, hope I can do without seat inserts this time around. Thanks.

You should call your local auto machine shops in your area and ask them. They should be able to quote a price over the phone. Hal
PS: I will call the local machine shop near me to get a price. Will post it tomorrow.
