I have experienced five flat tires in a little over a week on the front of my MF 231 I use for mowing. I usually have less than that in a season of mowing. I patch my won tires so I am only out my time and a patch. I was a long away from home when I had one. I removed my tire and took it to a tire guy. He wanted 20.00 I thought that was a little high. I told him I was going to patch it my self. As I left I realized I would be losing almost two hours plus the gas to drive 30 mi. I puled into another shop just down the road he wanted 15.00 so he patched my tire and I was back in business. What is the gowing price to patch a 600 X 16 tube type tire nowdays? Maybe these guys are with in reason on their price. Stan

we get 4.00 plus 1.00 for patch or 6.95 for tube on a 600-16 guess we work cheap but we farm to and understand how to help farmers

Flat repair was between $12 and $15 when I was in ND a couple weeks ago. We repair our own...

Once there are a few flats in a row on the same tire we start thinking about a new tire...

I'll have to check out those aircraft tires for the front of my H - the old pickup tires I put on a few years ago are starting to crack up badly.

15 bucks usually gets it patched here. The shop I use charges 7.50 to break one down and 7.50 to patch.

I agree with thurlow I run airplane tires on the front,of both a 2240 and 4230 Deere's. Working in Mesquite filled pastures for 15 year no flats.

i run tire slime in the fronts of my mowing tractors and bought one of those cheap little 12v tire inflator pumps that just clip on the battery. they are about the size of a cigar box, maybe a little smaller. if i get a low tire, at least i can get some air in it and get home to make repairs.

I dismount and patch a tube for $12.50. New tube would run about $10. If you brought in a tube with several patches and told me of all the flats you have been having I would suggest that you put in a new tube and may some sealer. I am sure you have too much to do than to be repairing tires. I have found that tubes sometimes get thin with use and just start getting holes.

I've found the more worn tires are, the more prone to flats, even on regular vehicles. I started buying new tires as opposed to used for that reason and I figured a new tire has a larger circumference, so better gas mileage.
Bout the third time at the tire shop in two days I asked the tire man about the green stuff for tires. He said he didn't like it, I figured it messed up patching. Fourth flat, I put the green stuff in, haven't been back to the tire man for over two years. He probably didn't like it cause it cut into his business.

Back when I had cattle, I kept 2 sets of tires/rims for the front of my mower tractor; one set of airplane tires (22 ply) for mowing and the other set for everything else. NEVER had a flat on the airplane tires.

chief,

There are three tire shops here in Middle Tennessee where I do business. None of them will patch a tube, they all simply replace the tube.

The Co-Op charges less than ten dollars including installation of the tube.

A prominent local tire merchant in Franklin, TN charges about fifteen dollars including installation of the tube.

A franchise tire dealer in Spring Hill, TN charged me twenty-seven dollars including installation of the tube. That was the last time I ever went there - about two years ago.

I try to use the local Co-Op whenever I can.

I used to get tubes for 18 bucks at TSC. Not with the inflation today.

I had a flat on a 6.00 X16 last fall. The old tube was really old. My local Co-Op sold me a new tube for $8.95. I thought it was a good deal.
