I got a starter and a carb part from someone on this site (thanks again). I got this mower to mow lawns and hopefully make some money at it, so thats what id like to do. I got a 77" belt for it and it chewed it right up. Nice.

It is the system where the PTO pulley under the engine is always spinning, and the belt is disengaged by a deck pulley, not the pulley under the engine, so if your belt is too short it rubs on the engine pulley and then you see your nice new $25 belt go flying off the deck.

My belt was a 77", and i was wondering how much longer a belt i should get. Thanks guys, and if it helps, heres the mower.

Hey Lanse. If your tractor is throwing the belt that drives the mower, It's a good bet that something is out of line. Maybe a belt guide or maybe a bad bearing in an idler pully. Better check it out. Those $25.00 belts can get pertty costly. rw

Lance.--Around the front pulley-- should be 2 rods about a quarter of an in. in diameter. One on either side of pulley. When you move clutch to stop deck these rods have a purpose when the belt goes loose as you are disengaging power to mower these rods catch the belt in close reference to the drive pulley, if it didn't have the rods belt likes to take a trip.--That is a powerful tractor I see what it's pullen. lol!--P.S. Good for you for standing strong against .0009% of the guys on this forum. you have a lot more good people on here that is very proud of what you are trying to do, especially at your age. and most of us are on your side. We as a YT. club members have something a lot of parents don't have in this new world society and that is you. The other, .0009% just wish they had. I don't know any man that wouldn't like a son like you. So hold your chin up,[tho sometimes it may get bumped.] and be very proud of yourself!!

Best bet - take your model number (probably under the seat) and go to Sears.

Some store has a belt catalog. Try manufacturer's recommendations. Also make sure idler pulley is free and turns. Also make sure mower is free and turns. Ik had a couple I had to drill a hole fill with oil and beat it a little to get it going.
