I own a Farmall M that is missing a serial tag. how do i find what year this is??

I looked under the generator and its BKM 110-200
which would make it a 1946...thanks all for help so far!

Engine serial numbers DO NOT MATCH on M's; many of the H's did match. Use the casting codes to get within the month of when the parts were cast; when they were machined & installed would be later.

Some do! I have a 1940 that matches. Its going to depend on how early of an M it is, and if the engine has ever been replaced. Look for casting codes, the only real way to tell. They will look like 12*7*K (One of mine, notice the day) 12 is the month, 7 is the day K is the year. (In this case 1941) I is 39, J is 40, K is 41, so on and so on..... ..BTW the *s will look like screw heads

The engine number is the same as the tag....the number is on the righi side near the generator.....
Lets hope the engine hasent been chainged....Don
