Any of you guys seen this on TV? Its a young farmer out in Missouri if iam not mistaken, has over 2000 acres. I actually think its his parents, but who knows. It would be interesting if anyone lives around that area to put some insight into this.

I sure hope that boy takes advantage of gettin some free labor outta those girls. I sure could use them on the hay wagons when square baling this summer.

Any farm boy looking for a fine wife just needs to show up at Quarterhorse Congress or the ApHC or Paint horse Nationals. More good-lookin', fit young gals than you can shake a stick at, and very damn few at that level who don't work their a$$ off on the farm. Most have more guts than most men and can chuck hay just as well.

I've told my 23 year old son that he oughta come with us, but he's still hung up on rock groupies and wanna-be actresses that hang around the "extreme sports" scene

I live 4 miles from Matt& graduated high school with his father in 1963 & they are great people.Like Matt told the girls it"s a show. Some is real an some is hokie. They will buck bales in one of the show"s comoig up.Matt is buying about 100 acres but his dad"s family owns about 1700 an rents the rest.Matt farms with his dad but work"s with a local contractor doing home repair"s its not farming season. He"s not an actor but has a great personalality. The reason most of the filming was not done on their farm his aunt was worried someone would get hurt and they could cause trouble. The first 800 acres was bought out of a john boat in 1947 by Matt"s grandpa and most had to be cleared to farm it. This family is hard working people and their equipment is cherry from the 1964 4020 to the 8410 T. We are proud of this boy,not many around like him. Here in st.louis the show is on CW 11 wednesday at 8 pm.

Hi James, it's a shame what you're going through. The best way to avoid all of that is through a trust. A prenuptial can be challenged and defeated, but a trust will almost always stand. This is the best way to avoid estate taxes, to disinherit certain relatives, and to protect the family farm. Anyone with any land at all should see an estate planning lawyer. Wills are definitely not the way to go.

That's why God invented housekeepers and shady ladies so you wouldn't have to loose half your stuff.

This young farmer wants a wife too, so I can say from personal experience that just any girl won't do. Most city girls wouldn't be able to handle the country life but for a few weeks, months at best. And what of harvest and planting seasons? Just the last couple days have been a real eye-opener that the present girl's not gonna last much longer!

I went to school with an athletic and good looking girl who reportedly could throw a bale to the top of a five-tier hay wagon. Never saw her do it. After school she really ballooned. Too much mint ice cream after a breakup.

If the young farmer does own 2000 acres, he should not have any trouble attracting a potential wife.

Seems strange to me that Hollywood has to bring in mailorder brides from outside his local community.

He would not have a problem attracting a wife here in Texas because it is a community property state.

The downside in Texas is when you get a divorce.

In Texas a divorce case involving community property, the husband leaves the community and the wife gets all the property.

Been there - done that.

That is why they call them housekeepers James.
BTDT also..... ...Although in Texas, previously owned property and assetts remain with the original owner as long as you weren't married ten yrs or more. After ten yrs, you will also pay alimony. This of course can vary depending on whether you have a mean woman lawyer or not.

I want to apologize up front for this off topic rant so please do not take offense at any of my remarks.

After 14 months I will hopefully, finally settle my late father's estate on Tuesday, May 6th.

His widow is entitled to half the interest of all interest paid on deposits, half interest in all calves born and sold during the marriage, half interest in timber sales of appreciated timber, and what ever else she stole from him while he was alive.

The last words my father spoke to me before he died were "Whatever you do, don't you let them take the farm away from you. They will take that farm away from you and you will loose all the hard work and money that you've put into it."

One H*ll of a way for a man to go out of this world.

Her son, a convicted drug dealer recently released from prison, is "handling" her claim against my father's estate.

She and her son let me know exactly what she was entitled to within 15 minutes of my father"s death right there at his death bed.

The day of his funeral the first words out of his mouth were "Are you going to probate the will?"

The only mistake they have made so far is that they went to the wrong bank on the day after my father died.

She took no less than $2,000 cash of my father's money and deposited to her personal checking account. So far my attorney has received 3 different stories from them on where the $2,000 came from.

The only personal belonging of my father's she has given me was his empty wallet.

Who says that crime doesn't pay.

Regardless of the outcome Tuesday, I will be glad to finally wash my hands of these sorry people.

I tell folks that ask about the situation that some things are best left unsaid.

Again I want to apologize for this off topic rant.

Two words of advice for the farmer who wants to take a wife: PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENT.

My only comment is that no one held a gun to your Dad"s head when he married her.

Whether we like it or not, she is entitled to half of what was accumulated during the marraige
in most states. You should be happy that she didn"t get everything.

I am glad you laughed and I am glad you thought it was funny.

I told this to my father many years ago when I was going through a terrible divorce.

He also started laughing and later apologized, but still kept chuckling.

This was one of my late father's favorite "sayings".

Just one more way to keep his memory alive and keep me smiling.

I dont think all that many girls, especially the ones on tv would do very good with a good square bale.

The boy is local here. It made the local news because he is fom here. The news says : He is a farm boy , but farms with the family and doesn't have his own farm. The farm it is filmed on was rented by the network , not his place. The animals were trucked in . He is only a grain farmer. Other than he works on a farm , almost all the rest is fake. Ain't no farm to get half of.And yes I bet the girls weren't selected for their intellect.

Thats what i was thinking. Everything seemed to be to damned story book on that farm. So i figured most of it was a crock anyway.

As for girls pitching a bale of hay, I have to beg the differ. My son is dating a girl he met at the local coop farm store, he told me "dad, i fell in love right at the moment she slung a 50lb feed bag up on each shoulder and carried them out to the truck, like it was no ones business" This girl doesnt look like she weighs more then 100 lbs soaking wet. Real nice girl though.
