Hi again, been away for work so off line for a couple of days.
These photos were taken while on holiday a few months ago at a place my family loves. Is in the Wolgan Valley not far from Sydney Australia. There was a shale oil mine there 100 years ago. I have photos of the ruins if anyone is interested.
First photo, view of part of the valley from a walk up along where the railway used to run.
Second photo, it is hard to believe a railway ran through here.
Third photo, is from an old tunnel for the rail, hacked out of solid rock. View shows how the beautiful bush has come back. There are thousands of glow worms in the tunnel.

I used the top picture as the computer screen background. Most of the Australian pictures remind me of the eastern side of the Rockies.

Love the photos,sorry we don,t know as much about Australia as we should.They have been drilling for shale natural gas around here,but havent found too much,or so we hear..

Nice pics, we keep seeing images of the Austrailian outback, so it's nice to see some other images of lush forested areas instead of the semi-arid lands we usually think of.

Thanks for a vision we wish we could share. This is Los Angeles JimN CA from the top of a hill near the Jet propulsion Laboratory JPL. The mountains are about 10km away. JimN

thanks for sharing the photos, i had no idea australia had areas like that, of course all ive seen of it has been on the tv, so i have limited exposure

If you want further information and lots of photos etc of the area, Google "Newnes Ruins" and plenty comes up on that. A lot of history in that area.
