Today I watched on our local news where the County health department acting on complaints moved in and started cleaning up a 500acre farm because of complaints from the neighbors. Now here's the deal first of all I understand there was a lot of garbage like household trash and etc. including some decayed animals although his cattle looked pretty healthy, I've been by his place many times and believe me he had enough old machinary to start a salvage yard including an old MM A4T a W-9 and some IH 06 tractors. They had a news release showing the trash company dragging a 479 NH haybine on to the truck I mean they are taking it all and I'm sure the recycler is laughing all the way to the bank and then the county official said no problem with the bill the taxpayers will pay for it and I'm sure the owner is laughing too. Don't get me wrong but trash is trash and steel is money especially over $500 @T for dirty iron and to make the taxpayers pay for it is ridiculous. Sorry guys just ranting here.

One of the farms here that sells old equipment has a sign. "No trespassing for State county and local officials and employees." they are alway on his Butt about the place and its nice and clean just has a lot of old farm equipment.
I suspect someday they will come by my place and complain about my equipment 90% of which is in running condition. I a parts tractor and parts baler. they think that is just junk I think its a life savor when I break down. Walt

I wonder how many notices that guy received to get his place cleaned up before the county moved in to do it?

Why would he be laughing at the county cleaning it up? He just lose the money he could have made from the scrap himself plus may have a lien to deal with?

Too high or too low? Our building contractor said he rounded up a bunch of scrap iron around thier shop on a one ton truck said it wasn't even a truckload and they got $560 for it. I know it was right at $200@T for dirty iron January 07 here and guy told me it has gone out the roof since then here.Dunno. The only point I'm really making is if they needed to take away the sanitary trash (health issue) do it and then send the bill why are they takin away the iron? See the township should of had an ordinance that he needed a fence up around his scrap iron. The guy is really out there but it's a question of people's rights of thier property not whether he is liked or not. His place has really been like that for 30 years at least minus the trash.

Don`t worry the county will either keep the cash from salvage or put a lean on the farm(can`t be sold till it`s paid) Small town up the road went in and cleaned up a small lot that was completely overgrown with 1&2in saplings, garbage and a couple of cars, they burnt the brush and all of the trash they could and then the fire got away from them and they had to buy the people a NEW house trailer.

I bought 60 acres in that condition about 5 years ago. At the time, scrap was too cheap for scrappers to come out.

I spent two years dragging vehicles, picking up garbage and otherwise breaking my back cleaning the property up. There was literally junk under trash that covered up more junk. It never occurred to me to call the county and complain about myself to get it cleaned for free.

The kicker is that after I finally got the place cleared out, the county doubled my taxes. They said with the trash gone, the property was more valuable. I think they raised my neighbors taxes too because they did not have to look at the mess.

Yup, it's sad. It's called the nanny state and it's causing us to lose more of our freedoms and liberties everyday. I'm sure some of the busy bodies here like Old Iron and TomTex are all for that type of thing. Well, they're all for it as long as they're not on the receiving end. They'd be the type to turn in their neighbor for smoking on their own private property when that right is taken away by our nanny state government too. It's getting to be a sad world out there. Keep this in mind when you vote.

Axlerod, I have met a few people like you that run off with half information, or intentional mis-information. In your case I think it is far less than half. In fact you seem to make up facts to fit whatever rant you have going at the moment. Life is too short to deal with the like of you. You seem to be one of those people who dont want to be confused by the facts, so you just make up your opinion without any facts. Tom
