How do I get rid of woodbees? Please, our farm is about to fly away. And I kind of like Ohio.

Find each bees hole in the wood and stuff it with freshly chewed gum. trust me it works. they ether leave or die if you plug the hole with them in it.

That shopvac ideer works, I used one to get rid of a nest of yellowjackets once. But that's another subject, I think the op was talking about the solitary big black and yellow carpenter bees that drill holes in, and nest in wood. The hole is drilled up, from underneath, most of the time, then makes a right angle turn and heads toward the nest area, only one bee to each nest. Put a mothball (P-dichlorobenzine) into each hole, and there'll bee no trouble!

This is kind of strange, but it works. We had bees in our house all the time and I finally found out where they were getting in and out from. They had a hive inside our siding. So I took a shop vacuum early one morning and duct taped the hose right where they went in and out. I turned the vacuum on and went to work. As the bees flew in or out they got sucked right up. Came home at the end of the day and sprayed some bee killer into the vacuum, waited and sprayed it again, then dumped it out. There was a pile of bees about 2 feet high! So, I did it the next day and got about half as many. After the third day, the problem was solved, no more bees. Never came back. Years later, when remodeling our kitchen, I took off the drywall and discovered the hive went all the way from floor to the ceiling! Had i taken that drywall off before I discovered the hive, it would have been nasty. Good luck. Kurt

I guess I won't be heading over to your place to borrow your shop vac. You never know what might be in there...
