OK team, sorry it has taken me so long to post these, but have a couple of photos to share.
First is a sorghum crop not far from here, second is a bloke harvesting in another area. Thought they may be interesting for you. Intend to get some more if you are interested. Hope it works this time
Cheers,
Rex

Yes similar rainfall to yours Howard. But we have been enduring 10yrs of drought. Had some good rains a couple of months ago and plenty of planting went in on that rain. Have to wait for the next lot now.

That sure looks similar to the sorghum we grow around here in Oklahoma! It is probably more common to call it maize or milo here.

What is the average rainfall there where you are?

Ours is supposed to be about 24 inches, but a lot of times is less - or just comes in a few downpours that largely run off.

It is not that uncommon to have a summer so dry the maize just burns up.

I had a dear old friend who lived in western Oklahoma. I asked him one time what their average annual rainfall was. His reply, "It's about 20-24 inches. But you oughta' be here and see it the day it comes"!!

ha!

Yep! Farmers out here pray for rain 95% of the time...

They spend the other 5% praying to just survive the storm!

I'm planning on putting in some sorghum for my released quail for dog training. I'm going to plant buckwheat first, turn it under, then plant sorghum.
