The slope leading down to my driveway has about 1000 1 and 2 year old pines and I want them out. Will Roundup kill them, or do I need something else.

I use a pair of "loppers" and cut them flush at the ground. The pine is very soft wood.

The good thing is that they will not "sprout up" from the tap root; once they are cut they are dead.

Do not mow with a rotary cutter ( bush hog ).

You will create "tractor flats" that will have to be cut flush to the ground with loppers.

Alot of work but you are done once and for all.

I have used remedy successfully on persimmon seedlings. The larger the tree, the harder to kill. I have used remedy on bull nettle and it also killed the grass.

Use a triclopyr 4 product like tahoe or remedy or garlon. It"ll smoke pine trees and should"nt hurt grass below them. It will also wipe out poison ivy and cactus when mixed with crop oil or diesel(20% triclopyr, 80%oil/diesel), spot treat only, may damage/kill grass.

These are northern White pine. There in a spot that I can't brush hog, to steep and rocky. Think I'll try some roundup and 2-4-D and see what happens.

some pine trees won't sprout back. Better find out what they are before you select a treatment.

Brush hogging them won't kill them. It will just cut them off. If you don't mow it for a year, they will come back. The best way is to use a brush killer, or get out there and cut them as close to the ground as you can.

I suppose roundup will kill em. but bush hogging them down and keeping them bushhogged will do the same thing. Won't more just come up ? roundup will kill pretty much anything you put it on except some darned cactus I have....

I got some poison ivy that just laughs when you spray roundup on it.

Gives it more room to grow because the roundup just wiped out any competition.

As far as the pine trees go..... ..... ....

If you live in the southeast the only way to kill pine trees and keep them out of a place is to graze it or cut it with a mower.

Even if you kill the original trees new ones will grow in its place.
