If you bruised a rib. Yesterday my stallion and a horse trailer had a run in. 2 horse size trailer and my neighbors mares came and over and he went home with them. We had to go pick him up but any how he didn't want to come home and he and I had it out in the trailer. Well now when I take a deep breath I get a stabbing pain on my left side just under my pecks and figure maybe I bruised a rib. Never done it before so would like to know if my guess might be right.
Thanks

Also be aware of your heartbeat going erratic. Mine did that when I cracked a couple falling all of 5 feet...lit elbow down so I guess that's what cracked them. If it does skip beats; better get it checked.

A couple of years ago, a friend of the family came off a colt he was training for roping. The horse stopped short and John came down hard off the right side. Lots of pain, etc.

Doc xrays him and says - There's 2 problem bones in the body. When they break, nothing to do but take it easy - collar bone and ribs. You have both. Have a nice day.....

Collegefund donation? What do you think...

You got the symptoms, but save yourself the doctor visit- they won't do anything but give you a prescription for 1000 mg ibuprofin for the pain.
I broke two ribs bike racing about 10 years ago and I STILL feel it when I sneeze hard (fell off cliff, hit stove- long story)

Was leading a few horses in from the pasture last year and one sent me for a topple and stomped on me. . . took an x-ray (run my own vet office) and saw for sure two broken/cracked ribs. More or less took it easy for a few days. . . was out turning wrenches again before I knew it. It was tough to sleep for a few nights though. . . could only way a certain way and had to move really slowly when getting up. Tried not to laugh, breath deep, etc, etc. They say it bad to wrap yourself up not cause you need to expand your lungs to prevent clots/collapse. . . I tried taking a deep breath every now and then to expand the old chest. Never did go to the doctor cause all he was gonna do was give me the pain pills and tell me to suck it up.

Got thrown from my horse several years ago and cracked/bruised ribs. Lots of pain. Sneezing was intolerable. If you don"t go to the dr. watch your abdomen for bruising. If you have periodic pain and bruising shows up, you could be bleeding internally. If this happens, see your dr. asap. Internal bleeding hurts, big time.

Perhaps you tore and intercostal (sp?) muscle or is it tissue. Any way they are between the ribs connected to the ribs and painful when torn as is often the case when people think they have cracked a rib. They take a while to heal too.

You really should see a doctor at your age you never know if you have any blood clots or not these can kill you.

I won the horse is home and in the round pen for a few days so maybe he will slow down on his wonder lust. Me sore but other then that ok. Call my V.A. doctor today and talked to them and they said if this or that happens come in other then that just take it easy and stay away from the horses. LOL. This horse was born on the farm and has only been off the farm twice in his life. Once when his mom was in foal heat and once when we took him to be broke. Hes 8 or 9 years old and most of the time gentle as a kitten

Probably cracked one, and as the others say, about the only thing going to the doc will do is buy some 4 buck diesel for his cabin cruiser. Reminds me of when I inadvertantly stepped off the side of a flatbed truck, came down on my @$$, and apparently ruptured a muscle, resulting in a bruise that eventually went all the way down my leg. Only painful for a few days, but the bruise was really quite spectacular. Mrs. kept insisting I go to the doc, and sure enough, when I did, he just said "That's a beauty", told me to take it easy for a few days, and could give me something for pain (which had pretty much gone away by then). I try to limit my donations to their kids' college funds to times when I can imagine there is something they can do to actually help.

I've both bruised ribs and cracked ribs. They're both rather painful.

The last time I cracked a couple, about a year ago, our doctor said he could x-ray me but it would be pointless because sometimes cracks can't be seen on the x-rays. There's not much you can do but take pain pills and gut it out.

A couple of times I've had to sleep in a recliner for a couple weeks because it hurt too darned much to lay flat.

Good Luck!

One of our cows got me in the ribs a long time ago. I was in a little pain for a few days and then it got so bad I went to the Dr. He told me I had bruised ribs and even if they were cracked or broken, there was nothing he could do for me.
Take it easy and try not to cough or sneeze.
