I just bought a 550...I think??(numbers on the tag are 515-7134, 235012 484) It"s yellow and has a loader and backhoe. I also think it has a 155 waukesha gas motor. not sure on that either Anyhow, I have some water in the oilpan..it seems to run fine. I haven"t done a compression test on it yet. I"m thinking that it has a blown head gasket or crack somewhwere??? ...it also has some blowby coming out of the oil fill. Since I"m a new guy could some of pro"s here shed some light on this for me. I would appreciate it
thanks
mike

Check out soonest. If there is antifreeze in the oil the bearings will soon be bad if you continue to run it.

Could be - a crack (head, block, liner); leaking gasket; leaking O rings on liner; core plug; someone added it by mistake or otherwise. who knows until it is checked out. If it is radiator water leaking, a pressure test (probably with the pan off) would likely help to locate the leak.

Head gasket might be blowing gases into the water and over pressuring it unless it is just leaking across to the oil return passages.

Like I said, check it out soon or expect to lose the engine to a major overhaul in the near future.
