funny thing is that the law can track you anywere on the planet while you are carring a cell phone with GPS or even secretly turn on the mike in the phone and listen to every word you utter .But lose the thing or have it stolen and ask the law to help you find it and they will say sorry can't help you .

Haven"t planted one, but lost one in the brush. Lost another one in a lake. Was filling the floating fish feeder. Lifted the sack of feed up over the top, and that action sqirted the phone right out of my bib pocket. The phone swam beautifully out of sight. Had to go to the sherrif"s dept. to fill out a report before the insurance would pay. Kind of stupid. Told the insurance gal, if she wanted to swim to the bottom of the lake to fetch the phone, she was more than welcome. Don"t know if the fish made any calls on it before I got the service turned off or not.

Funny you should ask about that! I "lost" mine just the other day. Here's the gimmick: crazy ex that can't get it thru her thick head that she's an ex and keeps calling and hanging on for hours won't stop nagging. We fixed broken clay tile the other day, and scouted the beaver dams. I "lost" the phone out there somewhere. Of course I always have the ringer off when I'm out here so calling would be useless.

Actually the phone is safe at home, battery pulled off it. I just got sick of being texted and called at all hours. Now at least I can not be annoyed by it until after 9pm, when she has to call my landline.

Wife lost one in the sheep pasture, was covered up by a bunch of loose hay. Kept calling it, until we found it! Was her work's phone, and she was on call. Fortunately, we found it before work discovered it missing.

I've never lost one. I have it just for emergencies. Rarely use it. James has fed at least three hats and one water jug to the bush hog. BTW, the limb that knocks his hat off is the first thing cut when the chain saw comes out.

Never planted one, don't plant much of anything,BUT:
Dropped one in a bucket of paint, it survived.
Dropped another in a water tank, took two days to dry it out so it worked.
Lost a pager in the woods when I was logging.
Destroyed two more pagers from excessive moisture, Carrying them in my shirt pocket, got rained on more than once, after a while they would be sensitive even to heavy perspiration. They would still work but you couldn't read the display. Girlfriend dropped a walkie-talkie in a bucket of the acid cleaner we use for maple sap tubing.

Electronics aren't the only victims, my pocket notebook went into a pan of waste oil one day, I copied the information from it and tossed it.

When I worked at tyson, I had two or three that got planted in chicken houses. I have not lost one in the field yet. I learned at tyson, always keep it in my pants pocket or in a shirt pocket with a button. Most of the ones I have lost or killed came from have'n it in a shirt pocket, they would bounce out. I killed one here at this job out of a shirt pocket, I was bent over fix'n a 13% bleach leak, it fell in a puddle of bleach. It was a slow cell phone death, the end where it charged corroeded up, I would scrape the green off but it kept messed up after that. My brother planted on under a load of broiler litter one time. (had it in a shirt pocket while untarp'n) He dug for over an hour, could hear it ring but could not find it.

On #3 now Leggie the lab used the first one for a chew toy (no idea who she may have called in the process). Second one I had in my left front pants pocket and leaned over the side of hopper belly to get a core sample of dehulled barley, and the screen was all sorts of colors with a bullseye in the middle (but still worked just had to do things the old fashion way, remember the number and answer the phone to see whos calling) and now #3 which spends the day on the kitchen counter and the evening on my desk.

Pretty sure I planted one, and stacked a rackful of hay on top of another. Found the one under the hay the next day, wasn't so lucky with the planted one.

I've always wondered why cell phone companies can't locate your phone by it's GPS signal. Heck, the gummint know where all the cellphones are, why can't the companies? They could even charge a bunch of money to tell you where it's at.

Oh, and spend the $5/month and get phone insurance.

I found the $5 month deal a rip off, they cancel your insurance if you loose/break 2 a year! Plus they charge you $50 for a new phone. You can get a new SIM card from them for $30, then ether get a $20 "pre paid" phone to put your new card in, use an old phone you or a friend kept when you upgraded, or buy one off e-bay cheaper than you can get one from the cell company. I kill phones more than loose'm so I have had the same SIM card for several years, the last 4 phones I have had came from e-bay.

Came close enough a few times, but so far none lost forever. Always go back with another phone and call myself and manage to find it under the straw/grass, etc.

I bush hogged one. Noticed some bright colored bits when I went by, looked down, YUp! The armrest on my 300U is too low to rest my arm on, but just right to catch something on my belt.
