Writing is on the wall. USA fuel prices will hit twice today's prices and OPEC has already started the process to remove it (oil) from the US $ and tie it to the EURO like a couple of oil producers have already done (Venezuela for one).

Not my words the experts have spoken. You can see for yourself on www. The info is out there. Once that happens, the US $ will be in a tail spin (per them) and we will have severe problems from there. Additionally, poor countries are having a time buying food, even with the world feeding organizations as primary ingredients have had record price increases.....want details, just surf the net. The info is out there.

Sorry for the doom and gloom but you can access the data and read for yourself.
I am retired and spend a lot of time reading about equities as I have to have something to live on. So I have uncovered a lot of data that is not comforting.

Better get used to it.....and accordingly fertilizer prices will also continue to rise.

Also, I went by the local sale barn a couple of days ago and got a market report for live cattle. I have receipts from 2007 and comparing April 21 prices to October 2007, cattle are down significantly and in particular anything above 500 # immediately drops from $125 per 100 to 98 and just drops from there. Additionally heifers are docked like hasn't happened in years; like 20 cents per #....love it, all my calves this year are heifers.

I don't have a big problem as I run a small efficient operation, have retirement income, and SS (which I spent my life earning..... .....).

A lot of you don't fit that mold. I don't know what to tell you but you had better be thinking about your future and what you are going to do to survive it because the economics for the little guy are just going to get worse....course the big boys will always survive....built into the structure....golden rule and it's still true.

Don't believe me just have a look at the Goldman Sach's clientele, what they (Goldman) do and what they do for the elite. Also might ask yourself how it was that the US Gov. ran to their rescue (bailed them out with your and my tax dollars...no strings attached) after they made very legally questionable dealings which helped lead to the sub-prime meltdown.

HTH

Where does all that raked in money go after its all been stockpiled up from all this money they are making? When the money runs out, and we are holding no cards to play,,, and they have it all,, what good is that money then? cant eat it, cant smoke it, and we are just giving and giving and they are taking and taking. Whats left in the long run? Bunch of broke everyday people who worked hard, and lost it all to pay to go to work. Nothing left to do, but to go back to the pioneer days of living,,, Reaping what we plant, and hope its enough to last thru winter, till next season. Money is money,, we cant eat it, we love to fight over it, soon, wont be no money to to argue over,, cuase it will be all in one large area stockpiled up,,, for who, and for what,,, to give back to us??? for that big ol parade that says here it is! Dropping it from the buildings like confetti,,, largest rainy day parade you will never ever see!!! Right??

Speculators and the dollar is worth less every day.People that try and do something end up dead,or something happens to their family. In what little real news there is,thats what it says.I think the people running this are trying to stir up all they can.8 years without raising taxes and war, somebody is going to raise taxes.Food shortages, high fuel, disappearing jobs.If we get mad and riot, that will give them an excuse to have martial law.If we finally say alright bring back the draft,we want war to get oil, thats what they want. There is only about 200 of these people doing this. They want to get rid of 5 billion people on the earth. They have been behind wars for at least 200 years maybe more. They are rich people and they somehow did all this with banks. Maybe thats true, maybe not,but something is behind all this and that makes as good of sense as anything to me. I read somewhere that we have plenty of fuel, are using a lot less than this time last year and the price is up?
Why other than greed do speculators run oil up to 120 a barrel when it should be about 50 dollars a barrel,if that, and why as a nation are we putting up with them doing this? Why is our dollar being devalued to its lowest ever, and we are fighting a war on borrowed money?Congress is going along with this? Maybe its true they are afraid to do something?Maybe they are being blackmailed?
If they arent being blackmailed they are in on it and making war profits.
The last thing is-what are these crooks going to do when they have ruined this country? They may need to go to the moon to live because there is no place on Earth that wants them.

I'll agree to the "greed" part,.... but what about the weak value of Mexico's paso compared to the US dollar. Compare Canada's lower valued dollar, and yet, Canada's fuel price is HIGHER (just the opposite of Mexico).

It's hard to believe "taxs" can vary enough to make such a huge difference in the price of fuel, because I thought the tax on road fuel (here in the States) accounted for about $ .40 to $ .50 per gallon.

Our dollar has been floating back and forth under and over par with the US dollar for the last 8 months..... in case you haven't noticed. Fuel here is still about 25% more than most of the US prices I see on here, tax not included.

Prices are being driven by speculation. The more people talk about it going up, the more willing the speculators are to pay more.... so it does go up. When they get scared about a crash they start shorting and sell it off cheaper.
We need to start talking about how the price of fuel is going to crash, then buy less and make it happen....

The news media have to out sell each other with sensationalism. They build any news item into the latest crisis.
Years ago people complained with the auto replacing horses and putting blacksmiths & stables out of business. People cried at the decline of the railroad. People used to complain how fast food restaurants were "unamericam". Ray Crock had a very difficult time selling McDonalds in the 1960's & 1970's.
This too shall all come to pass and we will adapt.
Somehow Europeans ship everything around and transport themselves on fuel that is 2-3 times more expensive than ours.
At least we won't run out of energy, it will just cost more. Lets not forget how much coal there is in North America which can be liquified. The nations energy can also be replaced just with sewage & garbage eating salt water algae. There's plenty of room in the southwest to grow the stuff. A couple of hundred large scale nuclear developments can produce hydrogen to either blend with liquid manufactured fuels. Or to burn on it's own as internal combustion or fuel cells. Hydrogen is nasty stuff to store and transport however. It seeps through or absorbs into everything.

If oil really gets fully priced to the Euro, rather than the the USD, then we are really going to suffer as long as our dollar is falling in value. Our dollare will fall as long as our stores are full of China junk, and we deep deepening the dificit which has grown by over 4 trillion in the last 5 years. Over 30 cents of every tax dollar you pay is going to pay INTEREST only on the deficit. We went to war on our national credit card, cant spend on 5 year war withot surtax or special financing. USA will be officially a 3rd world country within 15 years. Tom

The in the ground cost now for planting is at the point that the corn, bean prices will not make much difference at tax time next year over the 2007 taxes. The increse for the big picture will nill. That cash rent is getting tricky.

Its not just you Americans that are feeling the pitch, but us Canadians are feeling as well. We buy our Gas, Oil, and Diesel Fuel by the Liter. One US Gallon equals 3.78 Liters.
Gas today was $1.15 per Liter x by 3.78 = $4.37 per Gallon
and Clear Diesel was $1.25 per Liter x by 3.78 = $4.73 per Gallon.
I don't know what the answer is, but the whole world is hurting. In North America, we complain about fuel prices. In other parts of the world, they complain about Food prices. Some where along the line, there has to bee a happy medium.
Heard on the radio, that there is a shortage on a few types of rice, and Costco stores are putting limits of how many bags of rice a family can buy. My thoughts any way.

You're lucky. Out here we're paying that much for dyed diesel. Clear is 1.419, loosely translated, about 5.30/gallon.
I've also noticed the 15-20% spread in the BASE price between dyed diesel and furnace oil. There SHOULD be a 4 cent spread for the FET. Esso is too cheap to use some Vasoline anymore....

I've got horses, and most of the parts for building a wagon,... I figure I can build a pretty nice wagon for the price of "1 fill-up" for my Dodge Cummins at today's prices. I'm retired, and I don't really have to go anywhere "in a hurry" anymore.
Hay isn't a problem either, 'cause I can get someone else to cut and bale mine on shares if I had to.

Fact, highway diesel here in far South Texas was $4.05 per gallon today. Just 10 miles and you cross the border into Mexico, fill your 105 gallon bed tank with diesel for a mere $2.06 per gallon. Cross back over the river, no taxes paid. The bridge toll collectors are very busy these days. Yes, there is a steady stream of diesel pickups crossing daily.

rgvtx,.... that brings up an interesting question for those that are saying our fuel prices are rising because of the "falling value" of the American dollar. How can Mexico's fuel be so much cheaper than the US's, when their economy is worse than our's????? ????? ????? ????? ????

I'm sure in the early 80's when fuel was really high; people thought the world was coming to an end and whatnot. Did the world go on and prices level out (for awhile anyway)?

Yeah, the situation the world is in right now sucks. I try not to worry myself with it as there isnt anything I can do about it. For every report you read saying it will get worse, there is another saying things are about to turn around.

However I do realize the validity of your information. Noticed on CNN where it was noted in CA they were now dealing with $100.00 fill ups. I drive & work out of a diesel trk. So this is not a surprise for me have been suffering this for a period of time. Appears to be no end in sight.

The way the US goes, so goes the rest of the world. News I watched said the fuel prices weren't attached to anything except speculators. Said there's now plenty of fuel because of people cutting back because of the high prices, said the dollar wasn't in such bad shape, other than the chicken littles. The price of oil went up the other day because the pirates took a couple shots at one tanker. There was no damage done, happened in the same strait that the pirates work, and at any given time there are probably 1000+ tankers moving around.

This whole thing makes me sad. I was involved in sports and music. The thought of any of it being cut is heart breaking. Why is it that the oil company's break records for profit every quarter but our schools are being shut down or torn apart? What has happened to out country that we can not afford to educate our children? I work for a local school and alot of our textbooks are so outdated. When will we wake up and stand together and fight this injustice? Why are we fighting each other about what gets cut instead of fighting to save everything. We have lost sight of the issue, education for our children. What is best for them, sports and music are part of that education. ALL SPORTS! Lets pull together as a community and solve this, not fight about who or what gets cut! a lot of wasted energy is going into the fight over who or what must leave. We are a strong community when we stand TOGETHER!

I very strongly suspect that the talking heads on TV know very little, they are just readers, not thinkers. And one day it's speculation, the next, demand. I do think the weak dollar has a big effect on oil prices. If you look at the euro zone, one reason they tax the heck outta fuel is that they think it's nuts to export all your wealth buying something to burn.
