Do I turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise or counterclockwise ro lean out the fuel/air mixture? Thanks.

My Uncle used to have a "G", but it's been quite a while!

I would suspect it has a little Marvel Schebler carburetor, and if so, likely the mixure is RICHENED as you turn the needle "IN" (CW).

..Uhh the idle adjustment will do just that..adjust the idle, it will not change air/fuel mix..go to the other screws for that

It actually does adjust the mixture of fuel to air but just for idle not for run. Miss understood by more than it is understood.
Above idle the air /fuel mixture is controlled by the power jet and the amount of air being pulled into the engine thru the venturi.

You turn the screw in to slow the idle. It is a right hand thread so clock ways is in.

You can not adjust the idle with that screw alone. You have to adjust very small amounts alternating with adjusting the stop screw on the throttle lever on the back of the carb.
