Here is a picture (not a very good one) of the insides of the starter on my M. The stud that that battery cable connects to was evidently loose inside the starter, and it looks like it broke that copper ring that is right next to it. I know diddly squat about these things, so I'm looking for the best option here. Fix? Rebuild? New?

If you want more pictures, I can try for some better ones, but I can't get much closer than 12-14 inches.

Thanks again

Just look in the yellow pages then? Or any recommendations for Central IN?
Thanks

Talk to local mechanics and auto parts guys- preferably old timers. The best one probably doesn't advertise, because he doesn't need to.

I've used several starter/generator rebuild guys over the years, and I've yet to be taken advantage of by any of them. Take your basket of stuff to one, and I'll bet you get an honest assessment of whether its worthwhile to rebuild or not. I'm betting it will be.

From my experience, I always have had my stuff rebuilt. If your bendix drive is in good shape just have it rebuilt. I just had a starter and genny rebuilt for my '47 ford 2n and had $100.00 in both when the guy was done. He put new bearings, brushes, and turned the armertures on both of them. He even painted them black for me. I've done alot of business with him over the years and haven't had anything bad yet.
