How many times do we pay for the same oil? Grants and tax breaks to the oil companies, road taxes, fuel and oil prices, higher food prices, starving countries that can't afford food because of higher fuel prices; send them 200 million, various other taxes that will or have gone up because cities/states can afford fuel, etc..
Somebody just called and said fill up, it's going up. I told them it ain't the few cents change in price that's killin me, it's the first $3.

Around Dallas regular is $3.35 or more (my truck won't run on regular of course). Diesel is $3.91 to $4.09. We've seen it higher along the interstate.

I work for a pipeline company in the northeast. We had a Fase to Fase with the CEO a couble weeks ago.She has this once a year to tell us how wonderfull the company is doing. This year she had the nerve to stand in front of us and say "At $3.00 a gal the oil companys are not makeing any money".After that I didn't beleive another word she said.

Diesel here in Central NY is 4.35 but saw it as high as 4.74 in Syracuse a couple weeks ago. Gas next to where I work is 3.55 but not too far away is 3.35. Fuel oil at last check was 3.65. I offer a service of removing abandoned fuel oil tanks from basements and have gotten some fuel oil from those. Sometimes for free, sometimes I pay 1.50 a gallon. All depends on the situation. Often there is water and a lot of sludge to be removed before the oil can be used. I also filter and mix used motor oil in with my fuel oil at less than a 10% rate. Never had any problems so far getting it to burn reliably in my regular oil furnace. I’ve been thinking about getting a centrifuge to clean all this old oil easier.
Also been researching growing sunflowers and pressing them for oil. Don’t think I can get enough oil from soybeans to make it worthwhile. Sunflowers may actually be more valuable in other ways though, at least at this point. Still may raise them, sell them to buy fuel!

Diesel here is not far from 4 bucks, I figure the real cost of it is double that, by the time we pay for food, power, taxes for the war, etc..

Unfortunately, the primary objective of an oil company, like any corporation, is to maximaze profits for the stockholders, not to provide cheap fuel for the public.

No problem if it wasn't a necessary commodity. You'd probably squeal if water went up 300%. The point of this post was, what is the true cost of a gallon of gas, 6 or 7 dollars a gallon. Some people say on here, "you should have invested in oil". True, but how much would you have to had invested, 100-200k, to offset the increase of all the prices. I think because of how much everything has went up, you're invested at a loss.
