Fanshawe Pioneer Village is currently restoring what we think is a Aultman, Miller & Co. Kuckeye Self-Rake Reaper. We are looking for information on this machine(colour, pictures etc) and the company. Thank you in advance.

I have an 1896 Aultman, Miller & Co. sales catalog. In it are a couple of Buckeye binders and mowing machines, a very unusual looking Buckeye corn binder, a Buckeye dropper, and the Buckeye table-rake reaper. At this time, the firm wasn't offering a self-rake machine, although they may have at some other time.
Generally, the colors on the Buckeye machines were: red frame, levers, seat, & swathboard. Yellow wheels, seat support, reel, tongue and evener. The outside rim only of the wheels, cutter bar parts, sprockets, bundle carrier, and some of the brace rods were medium blue. The short squeeze handles on the long red levers were painted blue as well. Aultman, Miller & Co. was located in Akron, Ohio, and Lewis Miller had many inventions to his credit.

Aultman-Taylor Co. was first located in Aultman, Ohio, Lake Township. As Curator I have various stores on the life of Aultman and his company.

Thank you very much for the information on the Rake-Reaper and its colours. This will help with the restoration a lot. We had no information on the colour skeem of Aultman, Miller. The machine is in good condition and only needs some repairs. The date we have on this machine is about 1870's. The Buckeye changed in 1903 by moving the seat forward and loosing one wheel. Again thanks for your help.
