I am restoring my dads Supper MTA. I have fixed the TA and need a cylinder head. Does any have knowledge of what heads will work on this tractor. I was told that a 450 head will work, is this true?

Any help would be appriciated.

Most likely, the original head was an 8060 head. Some Sm's and MTA's had 8574 heads. Both heads will give you a smooth running tractor giving you 45 hp. Stay away from the 8704 head which is the distillate head.

Yes, the 400 and 450 gas heads will work. Not sure of the numbers. The 450 LP head # is 364586. The gas 400 head # might be 356994. Marv

I bought a good head from Waynes repair for my Super M. I bought a 450 gas head , but you will also need the 450 valve cover.

Works great, added power.

If maintaining its vale is a good thing, a SMTA date code head/PartNumber would be best. WOrst would be a Distillate head, Good would be a 400 or 450 head. JimN
