I have a 706, the PTO slips under load. Anyone have any experience with repairing the clutches. Is it a difficult job?

Thanks, Ed

I should have added that the parts included a new 1000RPM shaft, about $280. Don't ask.

To just put a clutch pack in it is no big deal . But the way i look at it id while it is out NOW is the time to reseal it and this you have to have the special tools to compress the BIG spring that pushes the piston in . As for setting lock up pressure here again ya need the special fitting to go into the test port and a gauge that will read UP TO 600 lbs. On a 706 i like to set lock up pressure at 235-245 . When rebuilding one i install the hd clutch pack as it has more disc in it . And you will never have a problem with it if it is done wright the first time .

The first thing to check is the hyd pressure of the PTO unit while engaged. If its low it can be adjusted. I'm assumeing you have a manual. If it has to be overhauled I'd have a Pro do it. It takes special tools. I had the one on my 1066 done a couple years ago,it cost about $500 parts and labor.

Boy did someone ever get in your nickers The kit is only about a 150 bucks and if they can't do the job in 3 1/2 hours and even if they took a half hour break on the clock mighty high labor rate .
