Next Thursday, April 17 I'm taking an empty 20ft flatbed from western NC to NE. I'm bringing back a 1963 Ford Falcon convertable. If anyone needs something hauled between here and there let me know. On the sad side, my 39 year old cousin started restoring this car his dad bought new, but he now has colon cancer and cannot finish it. I am going to take on the job. Please pray for my cousin as he is undergoing chemo treatments in Lincoln.

Comments from my better half: "Colon cancer screening is VERY important, but, sadly, there are certain types of this cancer that are geneticly linked, and tend to claim very young victims. There are new tests that can check for this genetic predisposition, but they, of course, are not perfect either."

Sorry about your cousin's prognosis but you have given me the chance to get up on my soap box. Colon cancer is usually preventable, if polyp problems are diagnosed and treated early. Though thirty-nine years is considered young to have the problem, it happens. I strongly urge folks to be aware of the screening methods available and to use them. Not doing so, if you are thirty-nine plus ten years, makes no more sense to me than running an engine without oil. Those over fifty, print and tape this message to you bathroom mirror.

I'm happy for your excitement, but at the same time I'm sad for your cousin. Hopefully he doesn't just give up. My Father had Colin cancer, 18 years ago. He had surgery, had 1 1/2' of colon removed, and got all the cancer. If it would have been left for too long, it would have been different. Hope for the same for your cousin. Thoughts and prayers are with him, and your family.
Bruce. P.S. Any body reading this message, please pass your prayers along to flashback, for his cousin, and family. At times like this, they will need them.
