My JD B did that. The float in the carborator had a hole in it and was not functioning properly. It ended up filling the crank case with gas.

might smell like gas from running rich, but the cause might be hydro oil leking in from the hydraulic pump shaft ?

If tractor has a mechinical fuel pump, check the pump. It may be leaking GOLD, I mean gasoline, into your crankcae.

Leaking fuel pump gasket. Fuel in the cylinder is so insignificant that you would have to run a long time to see alot on the stick.

You posted: "Fuel in the cylinder is so insignificant that you would have to run a long time to see alot on the stick."

NOT nesessarily true, especially in cold weather, or if the engine doesn't have a working thermostat, and is not warming up.

"Leaking fuel pump gasket."

I could be wrong, bbutI don't think this tractor uses a fuel lift pump.

Maybe a dumb question, but is it misfiring? If one cylinder is "dead", the unburned gas from that cylinder will get into the oil.

Not quite sure how that one is set up, but are you SURE it's not losing hydraulic oil, and gaining engine oil?

Is it time for oil change. Do you run the choke too much, or never get it warmed up? You can block radiator with cardboard for short runs and cold weather.
