Guys,

Do ya'll know who would have a transfer pump to move paint from a 5 gal bucket to another container? Lowe's says, "I don't know how they do that." and Sherwin Williams says, "don't have it"

Not quite the response I was looking for from either of them. But, as long as the pump is less than $20, I will be fine. Thats about the difference in 5 gal vs 5 - 1 gal cans.

How about trying one of those transfer pumps you can run with your electric drill, and a couple pieces of garden hose.
Bruce.

You didn";t say why your wanting to pump it other than pouring from a typical 5 gallon bucket of paint is a PITA since they don"t have anything but a hole in the top without a spout. I do know that Home Depot carries a little plastic spout that screws onto the top of the "pour hole" in the paint buckets that makes pouring them alot easier and less messy. I think the little trick cost about 2 bucks or so when I bought it a few weeks back.

Used to buy Hand pumped transfer pumps from W W Grainger to transfer chemicals from barrels into pails. They might work. Doubt you can get one for $20 though. Cut a v shaped notch in the edge of a lid for a spout, punch a small hole for a vent in the opposite egde of the lid and try pouring it maybe?

Why don't you pour about a gallon into a clean plastic water bucket then fill your 1 gallon bucket. They will hold several gallons and have a wide opening some may have an area to pour from. I have one of those buckets and the cost would be minimal. Hal

Well, what I am trying to get away from is pouring, as I don't want to handle the 5 gal bucket. I just want to pump out of it.
