Got all my sheet metal off and primered. Ready for payday to come around and get a nice paint and do the sheet metal. Now the clutch has gone out and even with a friends help on it. Still will cost me more then I really could afford this payday. :) So now that paint has to wait.... and the new tires I wanted next month will be sometime this year if nothing else goes wrong. shessss Stinks being on a fixed income. But I am not alone on this either?

If it makes you feel any better - I"ve been working on my tractor and equipment for almost three years. I still haven"t finished refurbishing my grain drill and i"m still trying to get my tractor working again - both gas and my paycheck have sucked ever since then.

Chin up - thank God like I do that at the very least I have a roof over my head. I keep everything else tarped when I"m at school.

We"re all on some kind of a fixed income. Paychecks don"t change much. We got a 2.5% raise last year. Not even enough to cover the increase in gas. Ins. stinks - won"t even cover the lab costs for a standard annual check up. I budget and budget and budget and push purchases to next month and the next and the next. Heard last night Social Sec will be broke by 2040 which means I won"t see nearly what I"ve paid. I"m not counting on SS at all. Stock market crash back in 2000 wiped out a lot of our retirement funds. At least here once you hit 65 your school taxes are frozen (I think), but that could change, too.

This is somewhat off thread, but--i"m on fixed income too-when it"s gone, it"s gone, till next
month, but what really bothers me is how our
school district spends and spends, and if they
run out of money they have a referendum to get
more! Why can"t they live on a budget, like we must. Now they want another school, because the
classrooms are too crowded. Seems like their goal
is 15 to 20 per class. If they had 25 per room
there is plenty of classroom---and what about the
5 empty classrooms in the basement--seems like
the teachers don"t like those rooms, because they"re too dreary, with no windows. And the
families that "push" the referendum are the ones
who "are concerned", but have bred themselves out
of bedroom space, have every toy thinkable, go out to eat several times a week, have their credit
cards maxed out, and are facing foreclosure on
their status symbil home.
I thought that we"ed be doing ok once the mortgage
was paid off, but new school taxes are taking
all of it now. There!, got that off my chest.sorry

fixed incomes really suck. only so much money each month and when it's gone, it's gone and i got to wait until next check. it has put my tractor fixing-up and my hay farming in real jeopardy. oh well, i look foward to that great "economic stimulus" check so i can go and buy more china made junk and parts and give it back to the chinese. what a country america is now.

You're better off than me having a fixed income,no one guarantees me anything I have to get out and earn all I make.

I'm not on a fixed income either, mine changes from time to time.

But farming is kinda like the lotto, you just have to wait to see how much you win.

Pick your state and county and see how much your neighbor won.

Traditional farmer. Tell me about it. For years I've heard people on fixed incomes complain, useing the frase "I'm on a Fixed income". They're all around me. Just to lazy to go out and earn it. I'm not talking about the ones who are actually disabled. In most cases, even the weekly paycheck is a fixed income. Most all of the disabled "fixed income" people I know play from morning till night. No way are they disabled in my eyes.

LOL It's seems to be getting harder to get that old money tree I have growing out in yard to produce much these days. Last year all I got was a note saying.. " IOU " on it. Bank would not cash it even. LOL The goverment puts out a lot of BS it seems. So I thought "ah ha"! Sprinkle some of that BS on it and now I think it's dieing to. *S

I don't know what kinda tractor it is but it probably took 40 years of hard work to make it look the way you found it, be a shame to get it all fixed up at once. Savour each step

Little by little you'll git er done. Patience is a virtue, albeit a hard one to swallow. We have all been there.
