I was asked by a friend today this ? I did not know who it might have been.We have a Case-Ih 8580 so thought some of you Guys might know ?

first large round baler was built by Gary Vermeer and an engineer,plans were drawn on the factory floor and the baler was built from that.The very first baler is in the museum at Vermeer Manufacturing that was started by Gary Vermeer in Pella Iowa

Yup,for a long time,these other companies paid Vermeer for the use of the patent for a belted baler. That's why New Holland used chains,to get around patent infringement.

Vermeer started the large round baler revolution and still is the industry leader in round baler technology.
