Mornin. My next project on the B is to get the rear wheel set up. This is the thing that attatches to the rim itself, but it has "mushroomed" into this wierd shape that i cant get a wrench around to remove it. I managed to get one of them off but the other 3 are just like this. Any ideas??

With any luck you won't have the problem I did on my Case DC. The tires were loaded with CaCl, which leaked and rusted the bolts into the cast center. No amount of Blaster or heat would budge them. All together, I had to drill out 8 of the 24 rim bolts. Be careful if you take this approach, the large drill bits can catch and snap the drill from your hands. Good luck.

What Old said.PBblaster.If you can get to the nut on the back side try to break the nut and not the bolt. The bolts are special and the nuts can be baught at any hardware store.Stay away from 12point sockets on hard to get off parts third party image

Heat and PB blaster and time. 2 of those bolts are cam type bolts and can be hard to find if you destroy them

Hey lanse, I will post a picture of the air chisel for ya,, but I am going to chime in on a safety issue, the cinderblocks were addressed before, I was going to say something , but I was glad to see that someone else did,

I have a concern about you working on the rear wheels with the front of the tractor up on those blocks, the stability is GONE,, it is teatering on the front and the 2 rear wheels make it very unstable,, it can roll or flip off of that set up very easily,, be careful and see if you can get that tractior more stable,

you may want to lower the front half, closer to the ground and that will take out a little tippsyness..

I always tell my boys and there friends that farm is a place that you can get hurt fast without warning,, have fun working on your tractor but BE CAREFUL< pat

I would use a cut off wheel and cut the nut and bolt down. Then use a good cold chisel to finish up. The bolt is most likely pitted bad so a new one is best anyway.

Lanse: now's the time to use that new air compressor and your air chisel. try "spinning" it off with the air chisel first (turning it with chisel blows). If that doesn't work, split it with the chisel.
If you didn't get an air chisel with your compressor set-up, they are about $15 at almost every autoparts store- and a cheap one is about as good as a high dollar one.

get an air powered "whiz wheel" that uses the really thin cut off blades - very cheap locally. That's what the other post was refering to as a "muffler cutter".
or, get an electric 4.5: angle grinder and use the same thin cut off blades. HF sell the grinders for as low as 9.95

Lanse, Take a small side grinder and grind two flat sides for a wrench. I do it all the time. Wear safety glasses.
A little heat will help.
I have been following your progress since day one.
You remind me of myself 40 years ago.
