On the left of the tractor there is an opening where to check the oil level on a Fordson Super Major.
I think it would be the rear end/ hydralic oil level indicator and fill up spot

What kind of oil would I put in there?

I use Trans Hydraulic in my Fordson Super Major, and my Fordson Dexta, in the hydraulic resivoir, and 80W90 in the transmission resevoir. No problems with either tractors.

I use SAE 90 in transmission and SAE 140 in the diff. They should be all the same so I think the fill point is behind the seat above PTO.This oil works the hydraulics. The opening you mention is for the dip stick to ascertain level.Just forward should be trans filler .

Crankcase and oil filter..... .8 Quarts
Transmission..... ..... ..... .5.4 gallons US
Final drive..... ..... ..... ...10.8 gallons.US

Made the mistake of using these quantities as imperial not realizing the book was printed in U.S.A. Had it completely full with some still in the can, didn't realize until I bumped my head.Sanity returned.
