Still being new to all this. I see many asking for a plow that fits some old tractor they have. Are a disc the fit another old tractor. My question is. Are they old plows etc. used for their farm mostly. Are for show with the old tractor they have?

Adjustments, or able to adjust, is a Big, Key Issue, with most three point hitch equipment. We had a Ford 440 3 furrow plow, we pulled with our Fordson Super Major, that we could not get set right. The plow had 16" bottoms, and we only could get the front furrow set at 14".

With an angle grinder, an oxypropane cutting torch and enough welding rod, there aren't many small scale implements that can't be used with an 8N Ford. I'm quessing the same applys to most tractors. If a tractor has sufficient Horse Power, it's simply a matter of how you will need to hitch it, and run the PTO to it.

There are some pieces of old equipment that will only work right on the tractor it was designed for. I have an old mowing machine (1956 Case) which I use on a 1956 Case 300 round nose. I use it to mow my road and creek banks and it does a great job. A fellow gave it to me because he said it would not mow. He was trying to use it on and allis chalmers with an aftermarket hitch. I told him it would probably work good mounted to the right tractor. It sure did. I would not part with it for anything. Also it looks very neat on the tractor it was made for.

Old time plow days are getting big.I just bought a late 1940's IH #8 3x14 plow for that purpose. It has only plowed 3-400 acres. It will be used behind my 1936 WK-40 McCormick.

People get bored at just seeing "bare" tractors in parades and at shows. By "matching up" the tractor with the same era implement it would have used then it just completes the package and captures people's interest because it brings back the picture in their memory. A lot of the larger shows now have 10-20 acres with crops ready to harvest , some to cultivate and plow so you can actually set-up your implement and use it if you don't have access to land somewhere else.

I have them to use, fix up and or sell. Sure don't want to see them cut up for scrap and go to China just for them to send back as a bomb

Everyone has their reasons for fixing up old equipment. I enjoy restoring and taking tractors to a show. But the best is when you can take the equipment out to the field and do some work with it!

I have been around this hobby for several years. I have some old tractors and equipment that matches them. I grew up using equipment in the 50"s and 60"s and I like to use the old stuff, since I don"t farm a whole lot, and also clean it up and take it to shows. I take tractors and a plow or mower and people say you don"t use that it looks too nice. I use it, I don"t abuse it. I can clean it up and show it too. I do my own mechanical work and paint, so if it needs a touch up I can do it.
