I am going to buy a new 50 hp tractor 4 wheel drive and I am looking at Kubota and John Deere. I don't know much about the new JD tractors since they have a cheap model and a nother more expensive model.I have heard that they have the cheaper model to compete with Kubota, does anyone own one of them and are they good tractors? Does JD make them are does some other Co. make them for JD? Any advice will be appreciated.

Bought my wife a compact Deere almost 3 years ago- we're very impressed with it. Good power, the hydrostat set-up (two pedals adjacent to each other, not the dread "rocker pedal") is great, PTO runs post hole digger just fine, It load, then pulls the manure spreader, etc. All the compact JD's have been made by Yanmar for many years.

Before you decide, find a Branson dealer and check them out. One thing about my Branson is that it is made in S. Korea for farming in that area so it is well equipped to move around in mud and water and slush. The tires are fatter than the tires on the tractors I shopped at JD and others so you get better buoyancy in such terrain. Yesterday I was retrieving 5x6 round bales from a row and if you ever did this you know how muddy and deep the ruts are this time of year. I put my hay spike on the loader (quick attach, took about a minute), put her in 4wd and walked right in there in all the mud and slush, picked up the roll and backed right out, just like I knew what I was doing.

I just bought a new Deere 2305 compact, super nice machine, 24Hp. It was delivered on Wednesday. Fit/finish/ride/operation is all real nice and smooth. Deere has 0% interest financing for 3 years, it was what sealed it for me. 10% down on the tractor. 3 year warranty. I have driven/used 5 new tractors in my time. and they are. 1. My new one that I just bought. 2. My neighbors dads tractor, 1999 Deere 4300--35 Hp. W/loader. He has had it for 5 years now. 3. A 1998 New holland TC25--nice but a real PITA for the hydra-static rocker foot pedal, I got a real horrible foot cramp from using it for 1 hour. 4. A 25 HP Kubota utiltiy tractor that was a Piece of junk. 5. a mid 90s Cub cadet utility tractor. And various older ones, 8N, I owned a IH-H too. My dealer gave me $1,100 off of the list price of the JD2305. The dealer charged me a $100 setup-delivery fee. I bought tire chains $95 and I got a rear blade. All for $10,875. The 0% financing is real nice, I get to ride on Deere's money for 3 years. I didnt get the loader yet because the sales guy told me that the price is $2,800 + tax. I will likely get an aftermarket one. I tried to buy a cub cadet for months but the cub line is being overhauled and I cant buy what I want yet, so I bought the deere. I also tried to get a Case IH compact but the closest dealer is over 40 miles away, and the sales guy never returned my calls, so he is SOL. Anyway good luck.

If you want a loader get the Deere one for sure ! They have the best quick attach going.

All of the makers have several overlapping models. Some have less goodies to keep the price down some. Generally speaking Kubota's tractor price is a little lower than Deere , but Deere's implements are less so you end up around the same price if you get a loader or backhoe. New Holland was alot higher than either Deere or Kubota. Any of these three have good tractors and parts network.

I wouldn't say those are the same a the Kubota's. The Kubota is more equal to the 5025 series. This link should have a bit of info on it.I am quite biased towards Kubota but the Kubota is better than the JD your looking at.

I think you are referring to the cheaper models that are made in India. BIL has one with loader, not 4wd, and he had one hydraulic problem, don't remember details but it was related to poor assembly, no problems after hydraulics fixed.
