This message is a reply to an archived post by Dennis in wisconsin on December 31, 2004 at 16:57:26.
The original subject was "TECUMSEH MOTOR PLEASE HELP".

I am looking desperately for a tecumseh 71712D motor, new or used, for a used go-kart i just purchased. The motor it came with is broke beyond repair, and i am not handy enough to buy a different motor and get it to work. If you know somewhere that i can get that motor , i would appreciate you e-mailing it to me. thank you.

How do people find these 3 and 4 year old posts? And why do they reply to them? If the person hasn't solved their problem by now, I think they are in trouble! :D

TSC stores usually have those Tecumseh sport replacement engines on the shelf.

Pretty much every small engine has standardized mounting bolts and crankshaft sizes. You aren't necessarily restricted to Tecumseh. Unless you're loyal to that brand, there are better engines to be had.

that is what is killing me with this motor is the crankshaft length is odd, its 2 15/16" and most of the engines i look at are 2 3/8". i just was hoping to find the EXACT same motor as the one i had on it to make it easier for me, my wife doesn't want it becoming a money pit. to buy a different motor i would have to take it to a garage and get them to make it work, and that could potentially be pricey.
