Local News channel just said an eyewitness saw the Mexican jump a set of railroad tracks and was airborn shortly before running the stop sign and hitting the bus at 55 mph. I'm sure the Highway Patrol will confirm after their investigation.

Get this...the woman said she stopped at the stop sign and the bus hit her! I can't even comment on her mentality there, other than to say that they never take blame or responsibility for their actions.

Also, not the first run in with the law as she had the cops called on her a year or so ago for landing her car in someones yard and didn't know how to drive a stick and couldn't get it moving again.

By the way, the fake ID and name she was useing belongs to a woman living in Puerto Rico.

The woman has now been charged and arrigned. I think the person who loaned her the van should also face some charges. He must have known she did not have a license. I don't know about MN but in Michigan you must carry insurance to get tags for the vehicle.

“It’s the Economics, Stupid”. No offense intended, but rather my attempt at a play on words. The Minnesota bridge collapse last summer happened because of a lack of maintenance. The Governor had won his election because he promised “No new taxes.” He knew or should have know the bridge needed repair. A number of people under him for sure knew. He had appointed his Lieutenant Governor to head up the State Department of Transportation. There is nothing in her resume to suggest that she has any significant road and bridge ability or experience, but her dual roles “saved money.” So, money was not spent where it should have been. This helped the Governor keep his “No New Taxes” slogan alive. The bridge collapsed during rush hour and thirteen people died.

There is no need for me to go into the details of the fatal bus crash; it is fresh in our minds. Few illegal immigrants would be in Minnesota if they did not bring economic benefit to employers and also to the consumer.

The head of the state government gets most of the credit for the bridge collapse, but the people who voted him into office because of the taxes promise need to share the blame with him. The employers and other benefactors of the illegal workers are responsible for them being here. Someplace in a physics text books it says “ For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Thus, no tax money, no bridge. A cheap labor pool also has its consequences. Simply put, we get nothing for nothing.

Mul-Skliner The gagle of DC types all want ROCK BOTTOM labor. A close friend had to take a job for the health card in Monence, IL. The employees are 90% guest workers. When the documents they were hired under were bogus they just went out for 125 dollars and brought in new ones with different names same one had FIVE different sets of documents before they were able to be hired. Now this is a pimple on the elephants back side for the rest of the US. When Mexican police catch illegals they go straight to jail. Not wrong in their thinking. A starting point would be set up a tent city in either AZ MX or TX will have low heating cost with about 10 mile of prison type wire and use this as a holding pen until such time the Feds. can figure something out which should only dozens of years. Just what will the new prez say after elected? The school systems are going to the tax paymers with the cash drain trying to educate the guest workers childers. No end in sight. See what happened to the meat packer workers with guest labor showing up. Take some where in the area of a 10 dollars per hour cut in pay or hit the tracks.

It is interesting to see her lawyer give an interview.

Perhaps only Mother Terrisa lead a better life than this woman.....

Or so we should think.

The van has plates on it from a car that was not renewed since 2002. (She borrowed the van from her boyfriend.)

She has no licence.

She says she is whomever from Mexico. The name & id match someone from P. R., and relatives of the person say it is not that person. (Lawyer said that hasn't come up in speaking with her....)

She had a traffic issue in the past year, as someone else mentioned.

Bus drive says he saw her coming way too fast, thought she would pass behind the bus, saw her airborn over the railroad tracks.

Lawyer says she feels just aweful about it, says she was hit by the bus.

Ya know, some of the kids are likely witnesses, and the front of the bus is about theonly part not damaged. I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but.....

They keep mentioning deportation. Max jail time would be 10 years anyhow. Well, could be consecutive 10 x 4 for 40 years, but likely would be just 10. Bet she gets deported with not too much time served.

Probably how all the truck drivers will be in a few years. They are enacting more difficult screenings for truck drivers to haul most anything considered dangerous here in the USA; but they alos are allowing trucks from Mexico to travel the roads with the Mexican drivers.

Instant no-liability then - from a different country, can't do much but deport them. Mexican drivers will be much cheaper than USA drivers, so nearly all trucking that can will dip through Mexico & bring cheap, no liability, no background check, drivers with the load.....

Yea, I went off on a tangent. Sorry.

Sad to say , I have to agree with you.Now that most manufacturing is moved out of U.S.A. , the next step to lower costs/ increase corporate profits is to do the importing thru Mexican ports, run the stuff into the U.S. with Mexican trucks/drivers and take away another bunch of decent paying jobs and /or drive the wages down. Eventually when enough of the wealth has been sucked out of this Country maybe the pay will be better south of the border and the illegals will go home on their own. Thats when the fence they are supposed to build will go in, so we cant get out.(last 2 sentences are sarcasm, the rest is happening now)

Its cheaper to keep her here in a prison, if she s deported she'll be back within a few months. Yup, hard to believe the illegal immigrant issue is such a hard debate.

Hi Paul,

I have a family member that works in the Federal INS prison system.

If she gets convicted, then she serves her time in a Federal INS prison.

Then when she done serving time here, then she is taken to the border that day and released to the Mexican authorties.

From what I here, she then goes to Mexican jail until she sees a Mexican judge, about 2yrs or longer depending on the US crime committed. That's like spending 20years in a US prison.

He stated that in "other" countrys, He's seen them shot down right there on the tar mat after they get off the plane.
