Better got those old combines tuned up, wouldn't want to leave any of that in the field.

I planted oats (20 acres). I am going to feed cattle with it. Have maybe $2000 dollars in this crop.

With prices like that it is tempting to put some of my pasture ground in wheat. Of course by fall when we plant wheat around here, it may change. I see some hard times for livestock.

Things have gone just a little nuts, what with the Chinese having tough times with their soybeans and the corn disappearing for ethanol. Guys around here having a really tough time finding feed grain and that's only going to get worse till grass time. Oats are going to be a tough look.
I'm into organics and spelt has gone crazy to the point that buyers are either backing away or just throwing up their hands.

Old crop Durum wheat is bringing $19-20.00 per bushel at Minneapolis but the rest isnt. This is up in the spring wheat growing areas.

Current price around here is $11.00 for hard red winter wheat and $10.00 for soft red winter wheat. No one has any as alot got froze out in early April 2007.

My soft wheat made 18 bpa and I had it contracted for $3.75.It was $5.25 the day I delivered.I couldnt fill the contract so had to write the elevator a check for $1.50 per bu for what I couldnt deliver.

Grain prices are crazy right now and very few saw it coming.I delivered forward contracted beans to the elevator in Oct for $6.25.The week I deliverd them they were $8.50.Now they are around $12.50.

I was thinking bout putting some spring wheat in myself, but I have no idea what I will get for a yeild, cant really contract. I wonder how long these prices are gonna stay up. I see Little Falls MN Ethenol plant is over $5 right up to new crop 08 corn. Is wheat as easy to grow as Rye?

Rye is going to be a good crop now. There is little of it available. Some of the large flour buyers cannot even find rye to buy. Brokers are not even able to find rye. Wheat will stay up for quite a while due to crop failures worldwide, the chinese using more wheat than they grow and India consuming wheat flour at a evergtowing pace. This world is going crazy especially trying to use corn as fuel. This has affected every other grain in the race to plant corn and will start playing havoc with the cattle situation. Think about it. Can't buy corn for cereal? Fine we wil specialize in Oats. OOps! no one planted oats because the corn prices are higher etc. Henry

Try and sell it for that - margin calls are getting so bad a lot of elevators are no longer offering you a contract for future prices.....
